2019 Beth Elohim Hanukkah Party in Honor of Max

On December 15, 2019 Congregation Beth Elohim in Acton, MA hosted its annual Hanukkah Party for all of its hebrew school families and made the theme fire safety in honor of Max’s memory. Beth Elohim invited the Max McCormick Memorial Foundation to participate alongside the Acton Fire Department in sharing tips on how to stay safe at home during the holiday season (and beyond!). Acting Captain Anita Arnum reviewed several practical things we can all  do to reduce the likelihood of a house fire and she gave us prescriptive guidance on what to do should we find ourselves in an emergency situation. With over 100 members of the community in the audience, there were many questions asked (mostly by very interested children). After the Q&A session all of the kids were invited outside to tour a firetruck and witness a firefighter climb to the top of the ladder. What a treat! Thank you to Congregation Beth Elohim for graciously including us in such a joyous occasion, and thank you to the Acton Fire Department for sharing such invaluable knowledge with all of us!
